Primary Instructor: Carol Tebbs.

W110 and W111 are required for the Certificate Diploma. This is not an introductory course. Students are expected to have a working knowledge of the elements of natal chart interpretation and synthesis.

This Certificate examines the development of modern Western methods used to understand the cycles experienced throughout an individual’s life. The objective is for students to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the various techniques used by astrologers to understand cycles and change. Students will see how different techniques apply to questions related to psychological development, and the timing of critical events both in the past and as potential predictions for the future. As it is increasingly common for astrologers to have clients without settled birth times, students will also learn strategies and considerations for applying these techniques to chart rectification. The basic approach will include:

The primary focus in this course is the practical application of what the student has learned. A good astrologer must also reflect upon their own world view, assumptions and other personal filters. Students will be challenged to explore their own personal filters, attitudes and beliefs as they develop their chart interpretation skills. They will also actively consider and discuss potential client issues and ethical considerations. In addition, students get guidance in how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to delineation by examining how multiple astrologers approach chart interpretation.

Topics include:

  • Developing critical thinking skills through examining conflicting views and asking questions about subjects such as house systems, the use of dignities, the use of the nodes, whether there are good and bad planets, or good and bad houses, etc.
  • An exploration of what makes a good or bad astrologer
  • Practice with and evaluation of multiple approaches to delineation
  • Learning how to identify your own filters in yourself and in the natal chart
  • Additional techniques to fine tune the chart
  • Learning to integrate dispositors, Part of Spirit and additional Arabic Lots, the lunation cycle, time lords, decans, fixed stars, retrogrades, planetary speed, derivative houses and more into chart interpretation
  • Introduction to transits

Instructors: Carol Tebbs and Jacqueline Menkes

The course introduces students to the basics of cosmological symbolism and applications developed in Western cultures and in current use. Beyond planets, houses, signs and aspects, 102 introduces students to natal patterns and chart points that clarify natal interpretation, such as: configurations, essential dignities, sensitive points, house systems, harmonics, asteroids, declinations, Moon phases and the natural cycles of outer planets. This course covers:

Instructors: Tamira McGillivray, Donna Young, Enid Newberg

The objective for this course is that, by the end, students will have learned the basics of astrological symbolism and be on their way to successfully synthesizing that knowledge to interpret a chart, even if there is no birth time. To accomplish this goal, the following areas will be covered:

EV101 Introduction to Evolutionary Astrology: The Pluto Material - Laura Nalbandian Green , Jeffrey Wolf. 1985, 2003. Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul, Vol.I. St. Paul, MN: Llewellyn. (new: $26.77, used:$4.89 and up)

Instructor: Laura Nalbandian
The question of the soul has fascinated humans since the beginning of time. Through his own quest to find deeper meaning, Jeffry Green began to develop the Pluto material; exploring at the nature of the soul in the natal chart.  By the mid 1980's his book "Pluto: The Evolutionary Journey of the Soul" was published.  The material strives to cut to the core issues of the soul - answering the questions of "why am I here, what are my lessons?"
In this 13 week course, we'll examine this groundbreaking work. We'll start with the discussion of the three evolutionary states of consciousness and the basic rules of the Pluto methodology.  Then move onto exploring the twelve house placements of Pluto.  By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Instructors; Joseph Crane and Enid Newberg

Each individual 5-week workshop is $195, $530 if you take all three (students signing up for all three courses get $50 off the price of taking the courses individually). All three workshops are required to be counted as a diploma elective.

Is the soul immortal, and, if so, how can the soul be modified by good or bad actions? How does soul relate to body, mind, emotions and to situations like falling in love or falling apart? Can we use astrology to find the soul’s purpose in life or throughout lifetimes? Is the soul evolving or does it get stuck on the wheel of existence?  Divided into three short courses, this program explores these questions and their profound implications for the theory and practice of astrology.

All three courses survey the traditions that astrologers inherited and created and apply their ideas to astrological practice.

Symmetrical Astrology in the Modern World -
New Tools for the Ancient Arts

Instructor: Gary Christen

This course will aquaint the participant with the background, materials and methods behind the emerging Symmetrical Astrology. Symmetrical Astrology is a modern framework for astrology comprising the work of Arthur Blackwell, Alfred Witte, Rob Hand and Gary Christen. It affords astrology the possibility of a truely structured form with common rules, observations and methods in keeping with modern times. Please note that this course only references Uranian Astrology and uses the Uranian System as a departure point for the structural integration of future astrological possibilites.

Because students are expected to practice the  techniques each week, there will be a discount for the course and a 1/2 price discount for the software used to work with symmetrical astrology, Nova Chart Wheels.

Instructor: Bruce Scofield.

10-week online class. Students will have a course site with course materials, discussion forums and more. Students will also meet once a week for an online conference to discuss the materials.

This course considers a range of astrological techniques that share a common principle – symmetry. Much of astrology is done using signs, houses and aspects which are essentially spatial, but do not necessarily involve symmetricality. The astrological chart itself is a grid on which planets are located in specific compartments, i.e. houses and signs. The planets can be shown to relate to each other by aspects based on the the division of the circle by various integers. In this way a delineation is produced. In this course we will consider only astrological techniques that are based on symmetry, which turns out to be quite a few.
