Join Joseph Crane on a journey through Dante, Astrology and the Soul's Immortality .... Spiritual cosmology has been with us from the distant past and will always be of interest. From the early fourteenth century, Dante's Divine Comedy traces a spiritual journey with a cosmology that should be appealing and provocative to modern astrologers who are interested in spiritual dimensions of astrology. In this webinar we will explore cantos of the Divine comedy that take place high in the heavens and proceed from planetary time through trans-planetary time to timelessness. We will explore the spiritual significance of astrology's planets, the ecliptic and celestial equator and what lies beyond the stars. We will also see some fascinating parallels to the spiritual cosmology of twentieth-century astrologer Dane Rudhyar. No prior familiarity with Dante is necessary to join in the discussion.

Crane Joseph100x100Joseph Crane's latest book, Between Fortune and Providence: Astrology and the Universe in Dante's Divine Comedy, looks at Dante's Divine Comedy from an astrological perspective. Joseph uses Dante's work to discusses the relationship of astrological practice to that of divination, magic, and prophecy.

Joseph studied philosophy at Brandeis University in 1976 and received his M.A. from Lesley University in integrated psychotherapy with an Independent Study degree. Joseph is a consulting astrologer, teacher, and author. He is the author of A Practical Guide to Traditional Astrology (1997), Astrological Roots: The Hellenistic Legacy (2007) and a number of published articles. He has taught philosophy, ancient mythology, and Hellenistic astrology at Kepler College. As cofounder of the Astrology Institute, Joseph has trained many people in modern and traditional astrology. He is also a psychotherapist and a Buddhist practitioner in the Tibetan Vajrayana tradition. Joseph is currently teaching the first in a series of workshops entitled Character, Calling and Karma: Astrology and the Soul (E520) with Enid Newberg.
