This 5-week course in our series on Character, Calling and Karma focuses on the individual's karma and the soul's movement through many lifetimes. Students will meet for two hours each week in live online sessions and continue their conversations and studies in an online course site. Each live session will be recorded and students will receive a copy of the recording.
Although there are echoes of the concept of reincarnation in the Hellenistic astrological writings, these ideas do not gain much traction in western thought until Europe's Age of Discovery. And it is not until the 1800's that the concepts of karma and reincarnation fully cross-over from Indian astrology into its Western counterpart.
This course will explore the contributions of Hinduism and Buddhism and their spiritual and astrological perspective toward reincarnation as well as modern astrology's adoption of the evolutionary journey. We survey and apply the many ways that astrologers from Leo through Rudhyar and Bailey to the Forrest and Green have applied the idea of the soul’s incarnations to astrological practice.
1) Week 1 - Background for reincarnation
2) Week 2 - Roots of the Theosophical Movement
3) Week 3 – Alice Bailey to Dane Rudhyar
4) Week 4 – Spiritual and evolutionary astrology
5) Week 5 – Bringing it together (class led discussion - anyone who has taken one of the E520 courses is welcome to join in)
NOTE: These workshops have two parts: an online course site with supplemental material and online discussion forums. Students will also have assignments. Each week there is a live interactive online conference. The live portion of the course is recorded and students will receive a copy of the recording.
